The Gamma Chi Chapter of Sigma Tau Gamma was founded by 12 young men in the spring of 1972. We were chartered on April 20th, 1974, and our chapter alone has graduated 700 Sig Taus to make the world a better place. Our national fraternity was founded on June 28th, 1920, by 17 young men returning from World War I at Central Missouri State Teachers College. We believe in the Principals of Learning, Excellence, Integrity, Leadership, Citizenship, and Brotherhood, always striving to be a Fraternity of courageous and Noble Gentlemen who always endeavor forward. The Gamma Chi Chapter has always called 1020 College Ave our home. The house was purchased by our Founding Fathers in the early 70’s. Nearly two decades ago, the house was painted blue and white, two colors of our national fraternity. Since then, our Chapter has been easily trademarked by “The Big Blue House with the Golden Retrievers”.
Our fraternity has always been an active participant in our campus and community. Participating in Homecoming, Greek Week, Greek End, Winter Carnival, and a multitude of other campus events. Participating in our community through service and in our national philanthropy, Special Olympics.
